Eco Friendly plastic free; The OKIDO Magazine is Full of Environmental Activities

OKIDO magazine has been teaching and encouraging our children to restore, care and respect our earth since 2007.

Created by parents for parents, OKIDO magazine was initially designed as an antithesis against the sea of plastic-covered magazines and comics that were available for our children at the time. And nearly 15 years later those plastic covered publications are still out there cluttering up our supermarkets, homes, rivers and seas. OKIDO magazine has and never will wrap itself in plastic or include a ‘free’ plastic toy to torment young children at the till point.

Beyond all of this, OKIDO magazine has the best green credentials out there – it’s printed right here in the UK using only recycled or FSC papers and with biodegradable vegetable ink – if it wasn’t for the staples you could even eat it!

You won’t find an ‘eco’ themed issue of OKIDO in our back-issue bundles because every one of our issues is designed around teaching environmental principles and a thoughtful approach to the planet and its resources. We incorporate environmental activities for kids into each and every issue and all of these activities use only easily-found objects around the home, readily-available recyclable junk or things that can be found in nature and only when in abundance.

So whether the issue theme is ‘hair’, ‘seeds’, ‘the moon’, ‘insects’ or ‘my body’ each issue of OKIDO magazine is packed with learning-through-play science activities for kids full of STEAM learning content, all designed with environmental care at its core.

We’re delighted that the current climate demands that other publications improve their eco credentials and OKIDO magazine can continue to provide our curious children with much more than just a magazine – OKIDO is an artist’s studio, a scientist’s lab, a test kitchen, a nature trail, a rocket station and anything else we can encourage our children to imagine and create.

All of this from the same, original, parent-led team, working to the same high standards and principles. For all of us.
